Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is one of the most common methods for minimally invasive treatment of tumors. The effects of RFA depend on the shape and size of thermal lesions. However
the distance between tumor and blood vessels may affect the RFA effects because of the heat sink effect. Here we review the negative influence of heat sink effect on RFA and the clinical intervention methods for it.
