To investigate the value of ultrasound-guided percutaneaus injection of lauromacrogol in the treatment of benign thyroid cysts.
Methods:
A total of 38 patients with 38 benign thyroid cysts were included and all patients were scheduled to undergo sclero therapy using lauromacrogol. Most of the nodules were pure cysts and a small portion of them were cyst/solid with cyst portion 80%. All patients were kept in hospital for more than 30 min to observe the possible complications and were followed up. The standard of effective treatment was that the volume of cyst shrank to 1/3
and the standard of healing was that the cyst disappeared totally. The results were statistically analyzed by SPSS 19.0 and
P
0.05 was considered as significant..
Results:
All 38 nodules were injected with lauromacrogol. After 1 month the efficacy was 63.16% (24/38). After 3 months the efficacy reached 100% (38/38). No patient presented complications and the overall healing rate was 100%.
