To investigate the relationship between mammographic findings
MRI features and molecular subtypes of breast cancer.
Methods:
The mammographic findings
MRI features and immunohistochemical results of 91 breast cancer patients (hospitalized from Jun. 2015 to Aug. 2017) confirmed by surgical pathology were retrospectively reviewed.
Results:
The ratio of mass-type and mass-type complicated with calcification in Luminal A type breast cancer was 76.5% (26/34)
and MRI showed mass enhancemen
t in 70.6% (24/34) lesions. In Luminal B type breast cancer
the ratio of mass-type and mass-type complicated with calcification was 55.6% (10/18)
and the ratio of asymmetries and architectural distortion was 27.8% (5/18). In human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER-2) overexpression type breast cancer
mammography showed calcification in 91.3% (21/23) lesions
and MRI showed nonmass enhancement in 78.3% (18/23) lesions. The ratio of mass-type and mass-type complicated with calcification was 93.8% (15/16) in triple negative breast cancer on MRI
and there was no pure calcification. There was no correlation between dynamic enhancement curve and clinicopathologic characteristics (
P
0.05).
Conclusion:
Different molecular subtypes of breast cancer have different imaging features. The analysis of imaging features has some values in clinical treatment and prognosis evaluation.
