To analyze and summarize the imaging features of dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP).
Methods:
The clinical and imaging datas of 21 patients with DFSP confirmed by surgery and pathology from February 2020 to May 2021 were retrospectively analyzed.
Results:
Among 21 cases of DFSP
13 cases were initially treated and 8 cases recurred (2 cases were metastatic). Among the newly diagnosed and relapsed cases
20 cases were single lesion and 1 case was multiple lesion. The
lesions were located in the subcutaneous soft tissue in 19 cases
including 12 cases in the trunk
2 cases in the head and neck
and 5 cases in the limbs. Among the 2 cases of metastasis
1 case was located in the mediastinum and lung (multiple)
and 1 case was located in the spine. Computed tomography (CT) scan was performed in 16 cases (enhanced in 9 cases)
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) plain scan and enhanced MRI in 5 cases. CT plain scan showed isointense or hypodense foci (compared with adjacent muscle tissue). MRI scan showed isointense foci similar to muscle tissue on T1-weighted imaging (T1WI) plain scan
and hypointense components could be seen on T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) plain scan. CT and MRI enhanced scan showed homogeneous or heterogeneous solid components with continuous enhancement.
Conclusion:
The imaging findings of DFSP have a certain specificity
which has a certain reference value for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
