To evaluate the clinical value of transvaginal sonography (TVS) in the detection of parametrial invasion of cervical cancer.
Methods:
According to the standards of the Federation International of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO)
47 patients included in this study were staged for cervical cancer
and all patients were diagnosed with TVS imaging and com
puted tomography (CT) before treatment. Compared with the histopathological results after surgery
calculated the sensitivity
specificity
accuracy
positive predictive value and negative predictive value of the two methods
and used statistical methods to analyze the pros and cons of the two methods.
Results:
According to the routine division of FIGO
there are 24 patients with stage ⅡA and below ⅡA
and 23 patients with stage ⅡB and above ⅡB. The sensitivity
specificity
accuracy
positive predictive value
negative predictive value of CT were 42.1%
64.3%
55.3%
44.4%
and 62.1%; the sensitivity
specificity
accuracy
positive predictive value
negative predictive value of TVS were 89.5%
82.1 %
85.1%
77.3%
92.0%. Compared with CT
TVS had higher sensitivity
accuracy
positive predictive value and negative predictive value in the diagnosis of cervical cancer parametrial invasion (all
P
<0.05)
and the specificity was not significantly different (
P
>0.05).
Conclusion:
TVS imaging has higher sensitivity
accuracy and positive predictive value in the diagnosis of parametrial invasion in cervical cancer than CT. TVS imaging should be used instead of CT in clinical practice.
